utah? no way!

yes, i’m on the road headed to the beehive state.

no, i’m not moving back, so don’t worry or think i’ve lost my mind. i’m just using my time “not working” helping patti and phil drive from dc to provo.

phil is driving the moving truck with his mom and ms. patti is prego so we’re in her car telling stories, solving all of dc’s problems, reading about “the mayor for life” on wikipedia, and listen to music.

yesterday, we made it to dayton, o-hio-oooooo, where i looked for every bw3 i could see and thought of all the franklin’s.

today, we went left the buckeye state and are headed to omaha, ne. wish us luck that our butts don’t go too numb.

p.s., at this point, i believe i’ve officially traumatized my max. last night he was roaming mom’s house looking for me. likely because i’m a nomad as he’s been driven cross country twice, been left alone or at mom’s with two crazy dogs for weeks and several days at a time – i’m actually feel guilty. poor cat.

the joy of ihop.

i had a date 2 weeks ago – or thought i did.
i got stood up. simple as that – he “forgot”

bummer because i was in heels (see below), a very cute outfit (if i can say so myself), and styled up my new pink highlights.

ya, i wasn’t exactly thrilled to have put all that effort in and then just go home.
plus, i was so enjoying being in my shoes (navy, patent leather, 4in heels).

but!!!!! the lammi’s called.
now, no offense to phil and patti but they weren’t the hot date i was expecting, but i love them anyway.
and what was even better was we rocked it out at ihop!

we all enjoyed ourselves including the soon to be mama.

love those spur of the moment decisions and how funny it is the way life works out.
thanks p&p.

today.

what is a life without love?

empty. lonely. scary.

i’m glad that i know love.

my love today goes to a few of my (extremely dedicated) friends – and their voicemails.

20120214-030214.jpg
they have been my rock through my struggles over the last two years, especially the last 6 months.

they’ve taken me in, saved me from myself, listened for hours, showed up at my door from 2 to 1500 miles away, and remind me to keep looking ahead…

when i want to give up they are there to make me laugh – often at myself, give me hope and love me for who i am – through my fear and of course the many tears; showing me what they see, when i can’t.

all that and so much more is irreplaceable.

thank you today…
thank you for yesterday…
and thank you for tomorrow.

yet that will never be enough in my book. i only hope you know how much i love you, my dear friends, and that i’d give you my right arm, left arm and heck both legs without even asking.

xoxo

Nov 22

a story of friendship…

laughs…arguments…life choices…diverging paths…acceptance…honesty…raw emotion…standing by…
tough love…coming back…stories…dreams…picking up and carrying on…tricks and treats.

there are films that clearly remind you of growing up
college days – come and gone
playing hard and hardly playing
working and working more
heartache and heartfelt blessings
loss and growth
and of course lots of laughs.

and then of course there is the real thing.

the thing that can get you through the day, the week or even the month.
the ones that are your sisters, brothers, and confidants.
they know.

i’m so blessed to have friends that have given me so much.

i’m in hell.

i’d love to know what you really thought!

but it’s really, it’s just
ray’s hell burger

turkey burger. sweet potato fries. guac.
and of course a dc.

matt may have enjoyed his too but you couldn’t guess.
he was enjoying the quad date we were on (not with each other).
“i’m gonna cut you”

and then there were the mustache cookies.
a “nod” to france. don’t ask.

p.s. highlight of the evening was not the food or the mustaches
rather the fact my life flashed before my eyes
as we drove into on coming traffic in the pouring rain

good times!
seriously, we all were laughing so hard
because “not said driver” and my date, well, he shocked us all.
enough said. xoxo

dinner with janie.

saturday we hit the day running, with a 5-mile jog through arlington (yeah, for 1/2 marathon training)!

went on to dinner later in evening with the crew at old ebbitt’s grill.

great company with patti & phil; the newly engaged couple.

russell, carey, sara and matt also joined us.

we made it to sunday, with church, the laker’s game, and a fun dinner at patti’s.

sad to see you go janie! can’t wait until the cherry blossom festival!

adventures in dc.

so great to see janie – in from utah for a quick trip around dc.
our weekend consisted of yummy dinners and laughs of course.

we started off on friday night in georgetown…
fantabulous cupcakes (thanks matt) from baked & wired.

matt sure does know me – go figure we just met!

the first dinner of the weekend - paolo’s ristorante in georgetown.

the server used an ipad to show the desserts! but we had our own…

yes, we did eat them all. i will claim 3/4 of the red velvet and 1/4 of the texas sheet cake.
the rest will be attributed to the nameless.

matt the famous tour guide took us to see some non-traditional sites across the city.

this was our stop at the national japanese-american memorial.

we also stopped at the canadian embassy’s echo chamber, the victims of communism memorial,
the gandhi memorial, and spotted some seriously cool embassy’s on embassy row.

onto day two of the trip…

it was still a fun filled belated birthday party for sara, patti and phil.

with…homemade treats.

exploding bottles of dc.

good times.

until next year.

Oct 27

a weekend of fun!

Need I say more. If you know me at all you know why this is so horrifying.

Some interesting appendages (greeted by the sight of the great giant struggling to escape

earthly bounds depicted in Seward Johnson’s evocative sculpture “The Awakening”) at National Harbor.

This years Halloween costume??

A night out dancing in downtown DC.

Cruising home. And much needed sleep.
