Sitting in a hotel room.

I’m sitting a hotel room in New Mexico. I’ll be here until Monday…sigh…I hate hotel rooms and I hate conferences.

The funny part of this whole trip is it reminds me of Pulaski. Why?

First, I’m staying in a an Embassy Suites. Big deal, right? Well, my mom use to work in Green Bay and there was an Embassy Suites close to her work. We’d drive by it frequently and it also just happend to be by Port Plaza Mall. We also had a family reunion or some sort of birthday gathering there once as well. Again, big deal, right? Funny part is this hotel is exactly like the Embassy Suites in Green Bay, same layout, same type of elevator over looking the rooms. It’s like being a teen-ager all over again.

Second, while I’m here I’m using my “free” time to work on two articles and a grant that I’m going to submit for publication and funding respectively. So, this means, I’m doing a bunch of writing and editing. In the mean time, I heard back from Kathy Gerds that she ran our class reunion announcement in the next edition of the Pulaski News. So I decided to take a break from my own writing and check out the latest edition of the Pulaski News.

The Pulaski News rocks. I love this paper and I love Kathy. She has been a constant staple in my life. She and my dad were colleagues and friends. She was one of my very first mentors and favorite teacher. As I sit here and spend my nights in the hotel room writing, I’m reminded that I can do that because of Kathy and the Pulaski News.

I know I’m not the only one that feels that way either. The Pulaski News was featured in the Green Bay, Bay Business Journal. It’s a great article and captures the love those of us who worked for the Pulaski News, who served the Pulaski Community and who love Kathy feel about it all.

So that’s my life here in the hotel room in New Mexico…pretty exciting…but always good to be reminded where we come from so that we know where we’re going.

And…I would show you the view from my hotel room but #1 I don’t have my camera cord and #2 it’s really not that exciting.
